About Reflexology

Reflexology is an ancient healing art, and uses the technique of applying gentle pressure to the reflex points on feet and hands that represent different parts and systems of the body in order to bring about a state of deep relaxation and, as a result, stimulating the body's natural healing processes to return it to a state of balance and well-being.

Reflexology relaxes the mind and body and is therefore a great way to tackle stress and its many resultant health problems. We don’t always immediately recognise the effects of long term, sometimes subconscious, stress on our body and its vital systems from fertility to digestion; circulation to the immune response. Reflexology can bring about a calming response, helping move from a constant fight or flight response to one of rest and digest which has profound benefits for both physical and mental health.

What can I expect during a Reflexology treatment?

During the treatment you will lie comfortably while the reflexes on your feet are stimulated so that I can feel any areas of congestion or tension. Afterwards we will discuss any findings. Following a treatment you are likely to feel very relaxed, sometimes sleepy but more often than not enjoying new energy.

You will only need to remove your shoes and socks for any treatment but it is best to wear loose, comfortable trousers as I tend to massage as far as the knee.

How many treatments will I need?

Ideally, to gain the maximum benefits from Reflexology, I would suggest between 4-6 weekly treatments, progressing to fortnightly or monthly and then occasional re-balancing boosts. However, this varies enormously and my clients range from those who have seen me fortnightly for several years as part of their well-being plan to clients who pop in for a one-off treatment when life becomes too stressful, with the remainder somewhere in between. It's completely down to you - you can have as many or as few as you are comfortable with or we feel appropriate.
